MS Extends Support for Windows XP to 2014
In an unprecedented move, Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) has committed to providing support services for its soon to be retired Windows XP through 2014 — a full 13 years after the operating system was originally released. The new deal expands Microsoft’s mobile platform to include backup services focused on social networks. Microsoft continued to expand its mobile portfolio June 26 with its acquisition of MobiComp, an open-source cloud computing company that specializes in storage, backup and restoration of mobile data.
