LONDON: Google’s employees will not be getting the usual cash bonus of 1,000 dollars this Christmas, for the Internet search engine giant has decided to give them a version of its new mobile phone G1 instead. Google Layoffs – 10,000 Jobs Being Cut
Google has been quietly laying off staff and up to 10,000 jobs could be on the chopping block according to sources. Since August, hundreds of employees have been laid off and there are reports that about 500 of them were recruiters for Google. a loophole has allowed Google to keep quiet about the cutbacks. Gmail: now customizable with Themes tab
Today I noticed Gmail rolled out with new visual themes for their popular email service. They are very well done(most of them)and really give it that “ummph” that’s missing from gmail. The theme displayed in the screenshot is the “shiny” theme which I like a lot. Take advantage of this new feature by going to settings and to the “themes” tab. Google Launches Virtual World Called Lively
Lively from Google is yet another 3D virtual world, kind of like Second Life but as yet unpopulated by furries or Goreans. Lively is available through a browser plugin for Firefox and Internet Explorer. It is Windows only for now.
