Nokia to Develop Smart Home Platform , now you can Control your home - remotely
Are you the kind who has always wished for a system that would offer you complete control over your home? A system that let’s you control virtually all things electronic - remotely? While there have been "home automation systems" available at your disposal already, these are usually expensive, lack interoperability and vary in complexity.
However, there is good news now. Folks at Nokia have just released details of what it calls the "Nokia Home Control Center". This is an open platform for developers to develop plu and play solutions that will enable users to control their home via phone or PC irrespective of where they’re located.

The HCC will allow users to initially control things like electricity usage and basic control of their electronic gadgets. However, in due course, it will implement more complex tasks like security, air conditioning and ventilation. All these complex controls can be managed by using a simple web browser. Features for the module include ethernet connectors, WLAN support, and SD card reader. The CPU runs at 533 Mhz and has 6GB of storage space.
The system will include Smart Home kits ranging from starter, security, energy, and baby monitoring. The solution will be demonstrated at the Nokia World event in Barcelona, Spain, on December 2-3. It will be up for sale by the end of 2009 in Europe.
