The term USP, which first became popular in the world of marketing, has traditionally been used by companies to market their products in the face of stiff competition. It refers to that one thing that makes their product different from others. To put it simply, it is the reason why consumers will buy their product instead of the competitor’s.

The USP could be anything — it could range from a lower price to more convenient packaging to better taste, etc.

Why should we hire you?

Whether you are applying for a new job or looking for a promotion within your present job, it all boils down to marketing your skills well.   
"Just like products have to be marketed to consumers, candidates have to market themselves to employers," says Rishi Gupta, a senior manager with a telecom company in Delhi.

The USP should answer a commonly asked question at job interviews, "Why should we hire you?"

"What employers usually look for is a unique skill that can help them in difficult situations. For example, for an HR job in a factory, a person requires good negotiation skills for handling trade unions," says recruitment consultant Punit Trivedi. 

If you can determine your Unique Selling Proposition and build it into your job marketing campaign (your cover letter, resume, interview, etc), you will have a solid advantage over other candidates.

Determining your USP

Take stock of your special skills:

Ask yourself: What is that one thing that makes me unique? What makes you better than other candidates applying for a similar position with this company? What can you offer that no other candidate can?

This could be a specialisation or experience in some specific area, which the hiring company views as significant. "If you can recognise even one exceptional characteristic or skill-set that could slot you into a particular job, it will make a big difference in getting you the position," says Gupta.

"Some employers give a lot of weightage to personality, which can be observed by the increasing use of personality tests in the interview process," says Anuj Raheja, an HR executive in Delhi.

If you find it difficult to decide which skill-sets are your forte, it would be a good idea to talk to your seniors or mentor for objective insights. Once you know and develop your USP, you can ‘position’ yourself in the job market. Any skills that directly/ indirectly affect your job performance should be taken into consideration.

Analyse trends in your field. "Smart candidates are always attuned to the latest trends and opportunities in their respective fields," says Trivedi. The best strategy in this regard is to do a ‘macro analysis’ of your industry profile and determine the current trends, opportunities and goals of your target company. How do your internal capabilities fit in with the existing external realities?

Presenting your USP in your resume :

Once you are aware of both yourself and what the company is looking for, you need to compile the information in your resume. "Craft your USP into a statement of around 10 to 20 word statement," advises Gupta. Keep the following rules in mind:

1) It is usually only one or two sentences long.

2) It is stated in clear terms, and is easily understandable.

3) It is believable.

4) It emphasises some unique benefit that you can provide better than other candidates.

Your USP comprises a unique amalgamation of skills, interests and talents, and is the golden wand that you should wave in front of your prospective employers. The USP statement is also referred to as your ‘elevator pitch’.

Examples of USPs :

Your USP should be short but descriptive. What attributes distinguish you from others in your field? Maybe it’s your educational background, training, years of experience, business contacts, or your ability to motivate and inspire. You may need to adjust your pitch based upon the job profile. Here is an example:

"I have five years of information technology experience. My expertise is in technical support and troubleshooting computer problems. My technical knowledge will be beneficial in reducing call waiting times and will substantially improve the efficiency of your technical support centre." 

"When I was being interviewed for an advertising position, I used the following USP: ‘I have strong credentials, a good reputation in the advertising community, and a track record of attracting and winning new clients. My personal values are in sync with the company’s mission with respect to putting clients first.’ My USP worked and I was selected out of more than 100 candidates," says Shailesh Singh, who works in an ad agency in Delhi.

Here’s a simple fill-in-the-blank statement for you to complete, which will give you your USP, or at least get you started in the right direction: 
"Because of my _______, I can do _______ for you better than typical applicants."

These palm leaves are still preserved in the Saravasti Mahal library of Tanjore(Thanjavur), in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The primary centre for Nadi Shastra is in Vaitheeswarankoil, near Chidambaram in Tamil Nadu, a state in South India.

The palm leaf inscription of an individual is spotted out by his thumb impression. Lines on the thumb of people on the earth are are classified into 108 types. The Nadi palm leaves are arranged according to these types. The Nadi readers identify the particular types of lines on the thumb and the corresponding set of palm leaves are taken.The time duration to pick up your leaf depends upon the identification of the thumb impression. Some of these were also acquired by the astrology families in Vaitheeswarankoil, a place near Chennai, the capital of Tamilnadu, a state of India.

The leaves were found lying idle in Vaitheeswarankoil aorund the 13th century. Some interested in Astrology realized their values and copied the contents on palm leaves and made exact replicas. These leaves have been handed down over generations to make predictions. They earned their livelihood through Nadi-Astrology. They got trained from their elders to do Nadi reading.

Canto 14 (Chapter 14) – Remedial Mantras

Procedure of Nadi Astrology
The procedure involved in the reading of the palm leaves in Nadi Astrology is a closely guarded secret, being passed down from generation to generation.They are not gerneally exposed to the common public. 

The Nadi astrologer first takes the thumbprint of the person who has come in serach of his Nadi leaf. He then uses the print of the thumb to identify the possible palm leaves from the numerous manuscripts in his possession. Usually Nadi Readers have bundles of these palm inscriptions at their disposal. It is not a certainity that the person’s leaf would be with that particular Nadi Reader. It might be with a Reader from any other part of India. Else the leaf might have vanished after years of neglect.

Once the Nadi Reader locates the particular bundle , he begins to read from each leaf and asks the person a series of questions about his or her life, while attempting to identify the correct leaf. This process can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours and it should be noted that it isn’t always possible to identify a person’s record. Once he locates the correct leaf , he begins to read from the leaf, describing the person’s life in detail. 

First there would be a general reading and then, based on the person’s interest, additional leaves are consulted to explore areas such as marital relationships, profession and business, past or future lives, etc. The Nadi astrologer will also suggest remedial measures that the person can take to reduce the influences of past karma and enhance the benefits of future activities.

At the end of the Dwapar Yuga, when Lord Shri Krishna renounced the world and went to his abode, at that time Kali Yuga, the source of all chaostook birth in the minds of the ignorant. When king Yudhishtir realized the advent of the Kali Yuga that is chaos, greed, violence, debauchery and lies, he expressed a desire to go to the forest and do penance. Accordingly, he abdicated the throne and coronated his grandson Parikshit as the king.

When Kali Yuga met king Parikshit, he was shivering with fear and said humbly:" O king! Brahma created 4 eras that are Satya, Treta, Dwapar and Kali Yuga. Satya Yuga enjoyed his reign for 17,28,000 years and went away. Treta Yuga enjoyed his reign for 12,96,000 years and Dwapar Yuga enjoyed his reign for 8,64,000 years and passed away. Now the time for me has come to reign which is 4,32,000 years and you tell me to get out from your empire. You rule over the entire world. Where should I go after all? O king! What is once proposed by the Gods cannot be erased or eliminated."

Kali Yuga told Parikshit that:" You point your fingers on my flaws and demerits but do not see my merits and positive aspects. I am embellished with sublime merits. That is the reason I request you.

During the Satya Yuga if any one inadvertently committed a wrong deed the entire kingdom had to bear the punishment. During Treta, if any one committed a wrong deed, the people of that town had to bear the punishment. During Dwapar Yuga, if anyone happened to commit a wrong deed, the entire family had to bear the punishment, but in Kali Yuga, he shall only bear the punishment who has committed the wrong deed. I am not concerned about anyone else."

Unlike the other eras where one had to inevitably bear the punishment for a wrong and bad thoughts, In my era, this shall cease to happen but one shall be bestowed with good fruits who thinks good."

Even after listening to this, King Parikshit did not relent, Kali Yuga said that he was endowed with yet another sublime merits. He said:" One could fulfill all ones wishes and desires in the Satya Yuga only after practicing penance for 10,000 years. Similarly in the Treta Yuga and the Dwapar Yuga, one had to collect a lot of money and perform Yagyas and had to engage in charity, penance, vows and worship for a 100 years respectively to fulfil ones desires. Unlike the others, in this era, if one even prays to God for sometime with total faith and devotions and sings the praises of the Lord, he shall fulfill all his desires within no time. He shall be liberated from all his sins and shall consequently attain salvation."

Listening to this King Parikshit was pleased. King Parikshit finally allowed Kali Yuga to stay and allowed him four places where he could stay, liquor and wine, where a prostitute stays, where there is animal slaughter and where gambling would be allowed. Kali Yuga humbly pleaded that his family was very big that is it comprises of members like lust, anger, greed, ego, jealousy, lies etc.

How shall all of them fit in these allotted places? On this king Parikshit said that they should all then dwell in gold. In this way, Kali Yuga resides in the 5 places allotted by king Parikshit. Those people who yearn for higher ideals should not even go near these five things.

In the Kali Yuga, by seeking the blessings of Lord Jagannath Puri, one shall attain salvation. In the Kali Yuga, there is no average life expectancy of humans. Even a child in the womb can die inspite of his mother and father living..

Humans taking birth in this era will usually be radiant, bad tempered, greedy and untruthful. The personality will be plagued by flaws such as jealousy, ego, anger, pleasure, instinct, desires and greed.There shall be only one pillar of religion in the Kali Yuga. Here the idol of Bhagwan Vishnu has assumed a black colour because of the inherent chaos and delusion. Vedic conduct, religion, Yagya and Karma all cease to exist.

All types of problems such as ailments, lethargy, anger, mental diseases and hunger, thirst tend to aggravate. Gradually even happiness and comforts of humans become decadent and morbid. In this era Brahmins do the work of a Shudra and the Shudras alike the Vaishyas amass wealth or alike Kshatriyas engage in allied activities and earn their livelihood.

In Kali Yuga, Brahmins shall renounce self-study, contemplation and shall eat every thing that is prohibited. They will no more be inclined towards penance and on the contrary Shudras shall take interest in recitation of Vedic chants.

In this way when hypocrisy reaches the zenith, it initiates the final annihilation. Many a king of the inferior category shall reign the earth who shall be sinners, unfaithful and wicked. Kings of places such as Andhra, Shaka, Pulunda, Yavan, Kamboj, Bahrhik and other wealthy Aamir shall become kings. No Brahmin in this age shall earn his daily bread and butter honestly.

Kshatriyas and Vaishyas shall engage in all duties other than those, which are coveted. All shall become less valiant, they shall be short lived, will lack energy and strength. Humans shall be short in height and shall seldom speak the truth. All the directions will have snakes and animals. Some people shall meaninglessly talk of Brahma Jnana. Shudras shall criticize the Brahmins while the Brahmins shall praise and eulogize the Shudras.

Many a creatures, insects etc. shall take birth in Kali Yuga. All things that ought to have fragrance shall not be that fragrant, and food shall relatively become tasteless. Women shall be short and have many children. Women in this era shall be immoral and licentious by nature. Most people shall be traders of food while Brahmins shall sell the Vedas. Most of the women shall engage in prostitution. In the Kali Yuga, there will be very less milk in the udders of the cow. Seldom will there be fruits and flowers on trees. There will be excessive number of crows in comparison to other birds. Brahmins will engage in killing and shall take donation from kings by lying etc. Brahmins as a whole shall be imposters and feign to be very pious and pure. They will harass the common people for alms etc.
Householders shall indulge in robbery because they will be unable to pay up their taxes. They shall disguise in the form of sages, ascetics and earn their livelihood. Even people who are celibates shall give up their purity and engage in intoxication and shall have illicit sex. People will engage in all those material activities that ushers physical energy only. All Ashrams shall be a haven of all imposters and they shall be totally dependent on food from others. During this time, seldom shall it rain and even the yield, production of grain will not be satisfactory. People will be aggressive by nature and consequently unholy and impure. The ones indulging in irreligious and blasphemous acts shall emerge powerful and prosperous. Those who are righteous shall be in penury.

Just by amassing a little amount of wealth one shall become proud and they despite having wealth shall have an eye on others wealth and property. In Kali Yuga, girls, 8-10 years old shall become pregnant while boys of the age of 10-12 years shall have children. On the sixteenth year itself the hair will turn white. Youth shall become alike old men and old men shall become energetic and youthful. Women will engage in sex with inferior men, servants and animals inspite of having a good husband.

Religion, truth, thoughts, pity, age, energy, memory all shall get gradually emaciated and drained. People will love only their own children and family and will not hesitate to deceive their own friends, benefactors.Judges of events shall favor the wealthy and the impoverished shall be denied justice. One who constantly blabbers shall be called a saint and one who is in a miserable state will be called an imposter.

Any lake or reservoir situated far away will be referred as a holy shrine. Growing hair will be an indication of beauty. People will take interest in religious actions so as to become prosperous and successful. He who subdues the others shall be self-proclaimed king. Subjects to protect their families shall seek refuge in caves and caverns and will lead a miserable life.

People will be plagued with all types of extreme climatic conditions. Average life expectancy of a human being in Kali Yuga will be approximately 20 to 30 years only.As the delusion will aggravate people will become weak and devoid of radiance, medicines and food will plummet and all the four stages (Varnashrams) will be represented by Grihastashram (householder’s duty). By the end of the Kali Yuga, The God shall reincarnate to protect religion and to destroy all evil. Lord Vishnu shall incarnate and shall give refuge to all that are good and righteous.

You don’t need to rush to get the RC. The RC will be available at least through July 2009 and we’re not limiting the number of product keys, so you have plenty of time.

Watch the calendar. The RC will expire on June 1, 2010. Starting on March 1, 2010, your PC will begin shutting down every two hours. Windows will notify you two weeks before the bi-hourly shutdowns start. To avoid interruption, you’ll need to install a non-expired version of Windows before March 1, 2010. Protect your PC and data. Be sure to back up your data and please don’t test the RC on your primary home or business PC.

4. How to trick people to fall for it.
There are billions of ways how to do it, your creativity is your limit.
Most common way is to make an email similar to the admin, and sending them some report with a link to log in the site(your phish site). Ofcourse you will mask the link.
How to mask the link?
If you’re posting it on forums, or anywhere where bb code is enabled, you’re doing this:

For example, www.google.com looks like a google, but it leads you to yahoo when you click it.

If you’re making the phisher for myspace, and want to get random ppl to it, you can simply make some hot chick account and put some hot pic that will lead to your phish site when clicked. So when they click the lusty image, they will be led to your phish site telling them they need to log in to see that.

When sending emails see for the option ‘hyperlink’, and it’s self explainable once you see it.
There are many other ways, and as I said, your creativity is the limit.

Believe it or not, Firefox 3.1 hasn’t seen a major upgrade since June 2008, however hopeful users seeking new features and improvements of the Internet browser can expect to see Beta 3 to go live on March 10. This is, of course, will only happen if the current version actually went into code freeze last night, and Mozilla kicks off the QA testing later today as originally scheduled.

So what’s taking the new beta so long? According to this blog post by Mozilla’s vice president of engineering Mike Shaver, the "upvar" patch and a handful of other JavaScript patches have held up its release. "That patch is getting close, but the continuing and great work on fixing other final-release blockers means that we’re accumulating a lot of changes on the 1.9.1 stream that would benefit from wider feedback from our beta testers," he wrote in the post last week. "To that end, we’re going to wrap up beta 3 in the next week regardless of upvar status."

Last week, Shaver also mentioned that the team decided to release a fourth beta, scheduled to hit the public six weeks after Beta 3’s release. This fourth beta will serve as testing grounds for Mozilla’s new TraceMonkey JavaScript engine, video, Places and "other eagerly-awaited improvements as well as feedback from Beta 3." This announcement also confirmed Shaver’s statement from weeks ago, saying that bugs in the TraceMonkey engine were slowing things down, and that the developers were considering a fourth beta.

But as of Monday night, Mozilla had not completely resolved the TraceMonkey issue, thus consumers will see Beta 4 addressing those issues when released in April. Progress of Firefox 3.1 has been fragmented since its original 2008 launch date, held back by various bugs and the development of TraceMonkey. Just this year alone, Beta 3 experienced two major setbacks, first in mid-January and then again a week later. However, several Firefox developers felt that Beta 3’s development process was taking too long, especially in light of TraceMonkey.

"Without Tracemonkey, we probably could have shipped 3.1 (final) by now (or, if not now, within the next month), since other areas would have been under more pressure to finish sooner," said David Baron back on February, "and since some of the things we’ve been adding to the blocker list lately (in Layout, anyway) feel a lot more like 3.1.0.2 blockers than 3.1 blockers."

Hopefully Mozilla will stay true to the schedule and release Beta 3 on March 10. However, more delays will only keep Firefox from gaining ground once Microsoft releases Internet Explorer later this month; Apple’s Safari 4 went into public beta last week.
